"My painting shows thandabi or waterspouts which we get over the ocean in the wet season. They are like small tornadoes and are very dangerous if you get caught out in a boat or on the beach. They come over the wet season when a lot of clouds crowd around. Sometimes there'd be up to 4 waterspouts at the same time, each one different color, different shapes. We have songs and dance about waterspouts still to this day. Old people believe that newborn babies keep the spout away. They are a good sign but the old people would wave their spears at them to keep them far from the camp."
