While stepping through the years from 1842-1901 and sometimes further as a continuum, they are grouped under five main themes:
Occupation which deals with early settlement, employment and pursuits till the 1860s. Alienation exposes the aboriginal experience and ethnic mix. Separation looks at some historical oversights about 1859 – the delay in acknowledgement of Brisbane as capital; the history of the first colonial flag, the recognition of the role of the prime public servant. Personation portrays the rise and fall of four “representative” men of the time. Location examines areas like Frogs Hollow (from George and Elizabeth Sts towards the Gardens), Bulimba, South Brisbane, Lang Park area and Moreton Bay. 400 pages
