Protective Shield Rectangle Scarf 45cm x 150cm
Mainie
This artwork by Justin Butler displays the colours of the ochre and the designs used on combat shields (Bigin). The intricate design was meant to mesmerise opponents and not give them a central point at which to aim during combat. The Bandjin warriors used the buttress roots of the cluster fire tree (Bay-gar-ee) to create the shields. The Bandjin people are the traditional owners of Hinchinbrook Island, the largest island on the Great Barrier Reef. This beautifully handmade silk scarf features an authentic Aboriginal art design by North Queensland artist, Justin Butler. 100% Silk Chiffon. Hand rolled hem. Digitally printed silk. 45cm wide by 150cm long. Presented in a handmade gift box lined with tissue paper. Artwork and artist information card. Royalties are paid to the artist with every item sold.
